Customer Testimonial:

"We are thrilled with the lanterns that the family recently purchased. They are used when we go to the cabin in the mountains where there's no electricity.  Work like a charm!  Other solar lamps I've seen here are ball jars with a solar panel on top.  People use them as garden lights or, if you're African, candles in the huts!"  -  B.C. 1. Not totally happy, but still using it 3 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Apr 2014

I purchased the older All-In-One lantern to begin with, and was extremely happy with it, until one of the little plastic swivel connectors in the handle broke, and I could no longer keep the handle on. I contacted the company and was told the lantern was still in warranty. I could return it for repair, or I could choose to be sent the newer version of the lantern that was supposed to be better and brighter. I chose the latter, for obvious reasons, but now I wish I had chosen to have my original purchase repaired and returned. The original version has a lead acid battery that holds a charge seemingly forever. I think I managed to run the battery down only one time, and I use solar lights for all my lighting needs (I'm off grid on a very small system). The newer lantern is lighter, but did not seem any brighter to me, though without having the two side by side, I can only go by memory. It's the battery life that's the problem. I was getting half an hour of light after a full charge, whether it was charged through the solar panel or the ac adapter. I contacted the company and was told to let the battery cycle a couple of times to see if that would take care of the problem. I had already done that, but let it go through several more complete discharge cycles. It did improve, but not to the advertised time of 8 hours. I'm getting about three hours at best. It is easier to carry and suspend than the lead acid version, and I'm sure the technology will continue to improve. I have portable tools with lithium ion batteries, and they don't hold a charge very long either. What might have helped this lantern would be a spare battery that you could keep charged and be able to swap out when the one that's in it runs down, as is done with many cordless tools. I've chosen to keep this lantern to use in a room that doesn't need regular illumination, and I'm still very positive about the company's products. i just ordered another lantern (different model) to use over the kitchen table, and will probably order at least one more in the future. I love the concept of the All-In-One, not having to keep track of a separate solar panel. But I think the lithium-ion technology needs to mature a bit more.__________________________
    World Green Products response:
We are reviewing our options with the Lithium Battery on this Lantern Model and are zeroing in on a more powerful battery that should offer greater length of lighting.
Our analysis should be completed soon and an announcement is planned to let all know of our decision.

  2. great emergency lantern 5 Star Review

We wanted something that would be user friendly if the power was out for several days. This lantern was just what we needed. It puts out good light and is can be charged several ways.
